WHAT WILL IT COST?

Sound, Unbiased Advice You Can Trust

A Registered Investment Advisory* firm, Summit Financial Planning provides services on a fee-only basis. We are compensated directly by— and only by— our clients, and our fees vary based on the complexity of each client’s financial situation or the level of assets we manage for the client. We do not receive commissions from the sale of investments or insurance products, so we have no vested interest in selling our clients anything and there are no conflicts of interest. Our only objective is to help our clients make smart financial decisions for the present and future.

For one time or a series of projects, the fees are based on the actual time involved in meeting with you in person or over the phone, researching and analyzing your current situation, and providing specific recommendations and implementation assistance (if appropriate) at a rate of $180 per hour.

For clients who prefer to delegate on-going investment management, fees are calculated as a percentage of the assets under management. Financial planning is considered an integral part of the investment management relationship, and those services are included.

In order to determine the amount of time required to complete each engagement, we offer a complimentary, 30-minute Get-Acquainted Meeting.  During that meeting we will assess the complexity of the required advice, determine a range for the cost of your project and identify information you will need to provide in order to complete the engagement.  Project times typically range from five to 12 hours. Once your financial plan is complete, you determine how much ongoing assistance you want with implementation and financial planning issues.

It is also important to note that Section 212 of the Internal Revenue Code allows an itemized deduction for tax and/or investment advice in the miscellaneous section of Schedule A. It is subject to a 2% floor of the adjusted gross income on a personal tax return.

*As a RIA firm, we must comply with a host of regulations designed to protect the consumer. Always ask for your financial planner’s ADV Part II, which provides important information about their qualifications and fiduciary duties. Ask for ours via email: info@SummitFinancialPlanning.com.
